So two weeks Costa Blanca Spain. The weather was mild but not always nice. We had a few days with storms and a lot of rain.
I need to start from the beginning, we took the bus to the train station, then the train to the airport and flew to Alicante which was an hour from the appartment we were staying in.
This meant, I took very little with me. My watercolor paper block had 4 pages left. My colors were consolidated into 14 of the smallest available solid colors and I had made myself a" pain brush role" before I left. That was all folks.
In the end I did find a little art supply store in Torrevieja, the town we were staying in, and there I bought more paper.
The above are some of the sketches I made. I love the Spanish architecture. The bottom middle pic shows the house we stayed in, the pink one,on the top 2 floors.
If you follow me on instagram then you have probably seen all these before.
My next love are the Spanish tiles....they are everywhere! Since I am a potter myself I can really appreciate the craftsmanship. The tiles are used as house siding, on the floors and on walls and of course on the roofs as well....just everywhere.
Torrevieja was once distroyed by an earthquake...a lot of tile fragments ended up in the ocean, the Mediteranian to be precise. I loved going along the beach looking for these colorful remnance of a beautiful old city.
Below is a pic of my beach finds.
Of course I love the sea. From the appartment window we could see the water...and it was never the same. I do not have a lot of practise painting water but I so love sitting there, smelling the salty sea air and....trying...... to capture a tiny bit of it.
Whenever it was dry enough I went out and painted.
4 of the paintings stayed with the owner of the appartment, 2 are for my mom . My most favorite painting is the last one, I painted it first...the beach was blooming....everywhere flowers at this time of year.
Now ,since I am home, I think I will go to the pottery studio for a while.......check in with me again if you like.
